Melissa Diamond (Founder and Director)

After learning about the lack of services available to children with autism in the West Bank and the lack of understanding of autism in the region, Melissa established A Global Voice for Autism to empower communities to support their own children with autism. In order to access services, most families in the West Bank have to apply for visas to cross borders. Even then, they are only able to receive temporary services. As a Peace and Conflict major at the University of Richmond with minors in Women’s Studies and Healthcare and Society, all of her interests are integrated in this program which helps mothers care for children with autism within their community.

  1. Hello The Jenin Autism Project Team. My name is Tayseer Amer, I’m a Palestinian-American living in upstate NY. I have a child with autism and while researching the web for autism centers/services in Palestine I came across your story. My family is planning to spend a year or possibly two in Palestine and we were looking for options for our son. We haven’t been successful in identifying any centers or services in Ramallah which is where we live closest to. I was hoping perhaps you can help us. If you know of any centers or special educational services in Ramallah for children with Autism I would greatly appreciate it if you could inform us.

    Thank you,
